AAO ‘23 Synapse Dental Pain Eraser

In the latest episode of the Get It Straight Podcast, we are delighted to host Dr. Cosmo Haralambidis, DMD, the inventive founder and CEO of Synapse Dental.

With a mission to improve patient experiences significantly, Dr. Cosmo has brought an innovative product to life: Synapse Dental Pain Erasure.

The inception of Synapse Dental Pain Erasure was driven by an urgent need within the dental field. A versatile solution was necessary to tackle various types of pain, such as orthodontic pain, TMJ pain, canker sore pain, abrasion pain, and more. Beyond addressing orthodontic concerns, this product aims to resolve issues emerging from oral surgery, root canals, hyper occlusal pain, and more, offering a non-pharmacological solution for post-procedural discomfort.

The product’s success rests in its medically proven technology that harnesses the body’s natural mechanism of neural transmission. While this technology is utilized in the broader medical field, Synapse Dental is pioneering its application within the dental sector.

Synapse Dental Pain Erasure doesn’t just provide temporary relief; its effects can last up to 48 hours with just one application, enhancing patient comfort significantly. The revolutionary nature of this product hasn’t gone unnoticed. Dr. Cosmo received the 2023 AAO Ortho Innovator Award, and the Dental Pain Erasure product itself was honored as the 2023 Best New Hygiene Product.

Tune into this exciting episode to hear Dr. Cosmo Haralambidis discuss his journey, from identifying a critical need within the dental community to developing a transformative solution that continues to make waves in the dental world. Discover how Synapse Dental Pain Erasure is changing the game in dental pain management.

AAO ‘23 Scriptagram

Scriptagram began its journey within the practice of Dr. Chris Cosse and Jeff Silmon.

The team noticed they were consistently running behind, and patients’ hygiene was not up to par. This realization sparked the idea for Scriptagram, an innovative platform designed to keep patients informed and educated about their dental health journey through the power of video.
With video content rapidly growing in popularity and efficacy, Scriptagram seized the opportunity to create educational content that could reinforce and supplement in-person appointments. The Scriptagram team recognized that information delivered verbally during consultations often didn’t stick with patients, especially given the complex nature of dental care procedures.

Enter Scriptagram – a platform offering a library of informative videos designed to help patients remember and understand vital dental health information. It became a powerful tool to ensure patients received the right information at the right time, even outside of their appointments. By focusing on patient education, Scriptagram could help reduce unnecessary appointments, streamline dental practices, and ultimately improve patients’ dental hygiene.

Starting from the ground up in Louisiana, Ashley Copeland and the Scriptagram team have now created a platform that combines efficiency, education, and proactive care. Scriptagram has taken a simple concept – video education – and transformed it into a tool that can revolutionize dental practices and patient experiences. As Ashley puts it, in our fast-paced world where we are constantly juggling multiple tasks, these videos can be a time-saver and a way to enhance patient understanding of dental hygiene. With Scriptagram, the power to improve dental health is now in the hands of the patients, making their journey to a perfect smile smoother and more informed.

Dental MoveMints w/ Dr. Dave Pechersky

We had the honor of sitting down with the founder and creator of Dental Movemints, Dr. Dave Pechersky.

After growing up around dentists and dental assistants, Dr. Dave found himself at Dental school, following in his family’s footsteps. In 2011, he was brought into a practice and after a couple of years, eventually became senior partner. In the most recent years, Pechersky Orthodontics has grown from around 300 patients to 500 patients. Dr. Dave has noticed a shift since the pandemic of adults beginning to get their teeth straightened. Through the use of masks during the pandemic, a lot of adults felt like they were able to confidently adjust their teeth, without disrupting their daily lives.

After having aligners himself, he found that the chewable devices that are meant to stimulate the jaw with the trays in caused him to gag and leave his mouth with an unpleasant aligners smell.

Dr. Dave decided that with his experience in the dental industry he would come up with a solution. He reached out to one of his friends and they started the beloved Dental Movemints. Each mint is carved to fit in between the teeth comfortably. With just 5 simple ingredients, the flavor of each mint lasts longer, leaving no residue of smell after they dissolve. As Dr. Dave likes to put it Dental Movemints are the Mints that fit. Each mint contains a therapeutic amount of Xylitol to avoid any dry mouth side effects.  Listed at an extremely affordable price, retailers and consumers are able to purchase Dental Movemints and begin improving their habits almost immediately. Dr. Dave recommends the implementation of Dental Movemints early on in anyone’s aligners process; as “compliance can’t be expected, it has to be taught.”

If you are in the Pittsburgh area, make sure you stop by Pechersky Orthodontics to see Dr. Dave’s bright and straight smile.

As always, stay up to date on all things in the dental industry right here at Get it Straight Podcast brought to you by BrainBytes.

Airway Dentist w/ Dr. Mark Musso

On this episode of Get it Straight we are joined with our good friend Judd Johns to interview Dr. Mark Musso, dentist of Airway Dentistry.

Dr. Musso has been in dentistry for 30 years, and in the last 15 years he has made his practice a focus on sleep, specifically in children. As we discuss with Dr. Musso, we learn that discovering problems in your children’s sleep habits can help us prevent sleep problems in the future such as sleep apnea. Children at a young age can have a harder time dictating when they have a poor night’s sleep. In a study it is shown that a sleep deprived child can have almost all the same symptoms as a child with attention deficit disorder. Sleep is important to monitor in children, as the placement of your mouth and breathing during rest can dictate the growth and development of your child’s jaw.

Airway Dentist with Dr. Mark Musso

Dr. Mark Musso found his passion of working with kids so he can help them have a better life in the long run. Disorders like sleep apnea, snoring, or grinding your teeth at night are all signs of a constricted airway. By working with different doctors in the medical field, like ENT’s, Dr. Musso has been able to collaborate and correct breathing and possible long-term health conditions. Dr. Musso’s goal is to eventually spread the word enough to educate health professionals on how researching the airway can provide valuable insight into a child’s development. Dr. Musso wants to foster better connections between dentists and other medical practitioners to be able to learn from each other. Sirotin and Dr. Musso, dive deep into airway focused dentistry and the overall effects this can have on developing children. The best way to identify a potential issue in your child is to observe the way they eat, sleep and drink, as airway problems can be seen in each of these categories.

Listen in as Dr. Musso walks us through airway dentistry, signs we should be looking for, and how symptoms such as mouth breathing and snoring can be a deeper issue.

Friendly Competition – Warford vs Keith

Today, The Get It Straight Podcast hosts our good friends Dr. John Warford, and Dr. Dan Keith.

Both of these esteemed orthodontists practice out of Bismarck, ND. We decided to have them on to explore just what it’s like to share an area with a “competitor”. The beauty here, though, is that this is friendly competition.

As such, these two titans of orthodontics were gracious enough to sit down with us to give their expertise on the subject. While we’ve covered Dr. Warford many times on the platform, Dr. Keith is a new face to the GIS Podcast. Read on to learn what it’s like for the two experts to co-exist in the same market.

Once he got his first taste of the field, he was hooked. Dr. Bovenizer would go on to open his own orthodontist’s office in the mid 2000’s. He’d even begin construction of the space while still taking part in his residency. Though this seems like a huge undertaking for a resident, Dr. Bovenizer felt a conviction he couldn’t ignore. By May of 2006, he was off to the races.

Mutual Respect For Each Other’s Craft

Though they are competitors, these two orthos are anything but adversarial to one another. Instead, they gush over how well they’ve gotten along since meeting one another. Dr. Keith even notes how Dr. Warford  “took [him] under his wing,” early on. But if they’re marketing to the same kind of clients, how could this be?!

The truth is that Dr. Warford and Dr. Keith are committed to the idea of bringing quality dental services to the community. It’s about serving others, including your peers and contemporaries. Plus, the pair’s respect for one another’s journey’s is unparalleled. You can check out their takes in the clip above!

ODO & GIS

Dr. Keith goes on to discuss how valuable ODO has been in assisting him as an orthodontist. He notes how it’s totally simplified his efforts with regards to the care and convenience of his patients.

Wisdom From The Front Lines with Dr. Todd Bovenizer

Welcome back to the Get It Straight Podcast.

Today’s a very special episode, as we welcome Dr. Todd Bovenizer. Dr. Bovenizer hails from West Virginia, spending his early years in the mountainous region. He’d go on to dental school, though it’d be some time before he selected the ortho trajectory.Today’s a very special episode, as we welcome Dr. Todd Bovenizer.

Ahead Of The Game

Getting his practice off the ground would prove to be no walk in the park. Competition from some of his soon to be peers would attempt to dissuade him. But this didn’t stop Dr. Todd Bovenizer from giving the effort his all.

The area around his practice would turn out to be the perfect setting. Though the business would come gradually, eventually he’d see his patient list grow to the point of great success. He’d even be ahead of the curve in using his company/patient data to help chart the course of his efforts moving forward.

Dr. Bovenizer has seen a lengthy career filled with well earned success. He’s a subject matter expert, and often works with other thought leaders in the field. He even cites having collaborated with our good friends over at Gaidge.

You can hear the rest of the episode at the link above. The Get It Straight Podcast would like to thank our good friend Dr. Bovenizer for joining. Be on the lookout, as more news episodes are on the way.

365 Printing

365 is a bit of a maverick in its approach, in that few other companies in their field offer the level of hands-on support that they do. They even come to the site, and help to train staff members in printers’ use. “We create that extra layer between the practice and the manufacturer of the printers, with a real knowhow of all the different things you can do with a 3D printer”.

This is particularly of use to those in the orthodontic space. It allows you to diversify and expand efforts, making them well worth their value.

Given how popular 3D printing has become in the orthodontic space, Jay acknowledges how important it is for his brand to attend a conference like AAO. This makes the warm reception that many offices already have towards 365 printing all the more understandable. We thank Mr. Phelps again for sharing his time and expertise with us today!
